How it works
From first call to settlement, in four steps.
Most home loans take three to six weeks from the first call to settlement. Here is what happens in that time, what we need from you, and what you can expect from us.
Step 1. A 20-minute call
We talk about what you want to do, your income, your deposit and any debts. You do not need documents yet. By the end of the call you know roughly what you can borrow and whether it is worth going further. No credit check happens at this stage.
Step 2. Documents and a short list
You send us the basics through a secure link: photo ID, your last two payslips, three months of bank statements, and your most recent tax return if you are self-employed. Within two business days we send you two or three loan options with the rate, fees, key features and a plain-words note on why each one fits.
Step 3. Application and approval
Once you pick an option, we prepare and lodge the application. Pre-approval usually takes two to five business days. Full approval after you have a signed contract takes one to two weeks, depending on the lender and whether a valuation is needed. We handle every question the lender asks.
Step 4. Settlement and after
We work with your conveyancer or solicitor and the lender to book settlement, and we confirm with you when the funds have moved. Every year after that we check your rate against the market and tell you if it is worth moving.
What slows a loan down
- Missing or out-of-date documents. Send everything in one go if you can.
- Unexplained large deposits or withdrawals in your statements. A one-line note fixes most of them.
- Changing jobs or taking on new debt during the application.
- Valuations that come in low. We tell you the options straight away if that happens.
